Austintown Intermediate School welcomed students from Austintown Fitch High School to give presentations to the entire AIS student body on May 3.
The Fitch Health Professions Affinity Community (HPAC) consists of 16 students. Those students divided into groups to give a 30 minute presentation to groups of 100 students at AIS, making for 11 presentations throughout the school day. The presentations were interactive and engaging for the students.
The goal of the Fitch HPAC presentations is to help students learn and understand how fruits and vegetables are nutritious. The students will learn about what types of snacks are healthy versus what type of snacks are not.
The Fitch HPAC students stood in front of the group of students and taught them about health and nutrition. The AIS students were asked questions, they participated in games and had the opportunity to go up to the boards to engage in educational activities to help them learn more about food groups.
HPAC is a service organization for students who are interested in getting a career in the health field. Students who participate in HPAC organize projects that focus on helping improve community health.
