Salvation Army, Entenmann’s Bakery celebrate National Donut Day
YOUNGSTOWN
Entenmann’s Bakery, a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA, is partnering with Salvation Army of Mahoning County to celebrate National Donut Day. A prayer drive is planned at 4 p.m. today in the Salvation Army parking lot, 1501 Glenwood Ave., where donuts will be distributed.
The Salvation Army founded National Donut Day in 1938 to pay tribute to the “Donut Lassies,” female volunteers who provided writing supplies, clothes mending, home-cooked meals and donuts for soldiers on the front lines during World War II.
This is the sixth year for the event, which will highlight Entenmann’s new Rich Frosted Party Sprinkled Donut. Entenmann’s will donate one dollar to the Salvation Army for each “Win Free Donuts for a Year” Facebook Sweepstakes entry received during the campaign. Visit www.bitly.com/EntenmannsNDD.
