BCMS track team competes in AAC Championship

The Boardman Center Middle School track team competed in the AAC Track and Field Middle School Championship with the boys placing third and the girls placing sixth. The team participated in a number of events.

In the 100 hurdles, Kiemanni Boyd of the girls team took second place, while Nick Johnson and Jimmy Goske of the boys team placed fifth and eighth, respectively. For the 100-meter dash, Bella Alvarico of the girls team took second place, while Carmen Cavelier took second place and Zack Johnson took 12th, both of the boys team. In the 1600 girls event, Julia Gorby took sixth place and Ally Schwendeman placed ninth. For the boys event, Mitchell Dunham placed first with a time of 4:57 and Justin Maloney placed ninth. The 4x100 girls relay team of Bailey Moore, Kiemanni Boyd, Tana Ortega and Bella Alvarico placed fifth. In the same event, the boys team of Zack Johnson, Rashie Garner, Carmen Cavelier and Hayden Lyda took second place.

The 400-meter dash event for girls resulted in Alayna Cuevas with a time of 1:07 placing seventh and Bailey Moore placing eighth. For the boys in the 400-meter dash, Alan Cuevas placed fourth with a time of 1:07 and Christian Ortiz placed ninth. In the 4x200, the boys team of Tyler Peterson, Carmen Cavelier, Hayden Lyda and Rashie Garner took first place. Nick Johnson took sixth place in the 200 hurdles.

In the 800-meter event Alayna Cuevas with a time of 2:44 placed sixth and Ally Schwendeman placed eighth, both of the girls team. Mitchell Dunham of the boys team placed third in the 800-meter event. The 200-meter dash resulted in Bella Alvarico (girls) placing fourth with Rashie Garner placing fifth and Hayden Lyda placing sixth, both of the boys team.

The 4x400 relay girls team of Jordan Solmen, Ally Schwendeman, Bailey Moore and Alayna Cuevas placed third, while the 4x400 relay boys team of Alan Cuevas, Christian Ortiz, Tyler Peterson and Mitchell Dunham placed second.

In the shot put, Abbie Sammartino placed third and Alicia Zoccali took sixth for the girls team, and David Merdich of the boys team took fourth. Abbie Sammartino placed eighth in discus for the girls team and David Merdich of the boys team took second in the same event.

In the long jump, Tana Ortega and Zack Johnson both placed sixth, while in the high jump Jordan Solmen of the girls team took seventh and Tyler Peterson placed fourth for the boys team.
