YSU trustees committee OK's new degree

YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown State University trustees committee approved a new bachelor's degree that will take advantage of the university's location and relationships with regional manufacturers.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee gave a nod this afternoon for a bachelor of engineering in manufacturing engineering.

The degree must be approved by the full trustees which meets June 15. From there, it must get approval from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

If it wins approval, the program would begin this fall.
