UPDATE | Youngstown police investigating woman's body found in South Side house

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are on the scene, conducting an investigation after a woman's body was found just after noon today at a home in the 400 block of West Boston Avenue.

Detectives and the coroner have been called to the scene and the home has been cordoned off with crime scene tape.

A police spokesman said the death is being treated as suspicious because of the nature of the victim's wounds. He wouldn't elaborate on what the wounds are.

The spokesman said the 27-year-old woman was found in an upstairs room by two of her friends.

Once the coroner can do a preliminary examination police may be able to determine if the death is a homicide, the spokesman said.
