UPDATE | Judge Rusu releases names of remaining MetroParks board candidates

YOUNGSTOWN — The remaining candidates to fill two vacant Mill Creek MetroParks board seats are:

• James Callen, of Mineral Ridge

• Lee Frey, of Canfield

• Raymond Jaminet, of Youngstown

• Frank Nolasco, of Youngstown

• Thomas Shipka, of Youngstown

Those five people were recommended by a 10-person committee to Mahoning County Probate Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr., who will select two people to fill the open seats.

Sixteen people applied for the open board seats. The selection committee chose to interview seven of them. The judge will now interview each of the five candidates who were recommended to him, he said in a release today.

“I would like to thank each of the sixteen candidates who applied for the position. Their courage to step up and want to take a leadership role speaks volumes about these individuals’ character and their love for the park,” he stated in the release.

The judge plans to have the new board members in place for the June 13 MetroParks board meeting.
