Ticket sales for the Youngstown/Chicago air service provided by Aerodynamics Inc. are to start today .

Flights will begin on a 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 July 1.

“[We are] just excited to get this off and to start selling tickets and to start getting the aircraft in the air,” said Dan Dickten, director of aviation for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna.

Ticket sales were delayed a week because of some problems with the reservation system, Dickten said.

The tickets will be available on the Great Lakes Airlines website, www.greatlakesav.com.

Customers who go to ADI’s website, www.flyadi.com, will receive a prompt to the Great Lakes website.

Sites such as Expedia and Travelocity will have the flight tickets available to purchase Sunday.

ADI officials have said the ticket prices from $90 one-way up to $250 will be comparable to the other local airports.

More advertising for the service will be seen this week. Billboards for the new service already went up in Boardman.

The port authority authorized spending $96,000 for a marketing campaign by Palo Creative of Youngstown.

ADI will fly 10 flights a week from the Youngstown airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The last time the local airport had daily service was 14 years ago.

ADI initially applied to bring the daily service to Youngstown in June 2014. After a thorough vetting of the airline by the U.S. Department of Transportation, ADI received tentative approval for the service in January.

ADI expected to start flights June 1, but the DOT requested more information, including proof of ADI’s financial fitness.

ADI provided the information requested and then May 20, the company received an email from the DOT granting authority for flights to begin.

Connecting to Chicago means connecting to 130 worldwide destinations offered from O’Hare.

ADI has an agreement in place to promote connecting flights offered by JetBlue Airways, Delta, United and American Airlines.

An ADI official could not be reached to comment.
