Man says he was shot while breaking up South Side fight


YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a 30-year-old man was shot in the wrist at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday while trying to break up a large fight on the South Side.

The man was driven to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital by a friend to be treated for his wound. He told police there was a large group of juveniles fighting in the 500 block of East Avondale Avenue and when he went to break it up he was shot.

Reports said police found 16 .45-caliber shell casings at three different locations near where the man was shot.
