Boardman police looking for tater tossers who damaged vehicles


BOARDMAN — Police continue searching for a suspect or suspects who threw potatoes at passing vehicles Tuesday evening.

According to a report, two people told police their vehicles were struck by a potato in a similar area at similar times. The first occurred at 11:45 p.m. when the victim was traveling on U.S. Route 224 and reported hearing a loud bang and noticed his turn signal malfunctioning.

After pulling over, the victim said the potato shattered his front driver-side turn signal and cracked the adjacent headlight cover.

The second occurred at 11:55 p.m. on Glenwood Avenue near Sugarcane Drive when the victim heard a loud noise from the front of the vehicle. The victim later found a portion of a potato lodged in the car’s grille.
