ACH celebrates 'topping off' in $18.6M expansion project
BOARDMAN — Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley this morning marked a milestone in the ongoing expansion of its Beeghly campus.
The hospital hosted a "Topping Off" ceremony to recognize the placement of steel as part of the $18.6 million project.
"It's a day of celebration. These milestones, when you have a chance to participate in them, you just reflect on the important nature of the work we do and the meaningful component of that, and that's caring for the children," Bill Considine, president and CEO of Akron Children's, told The Vindicator.
The project, slated to be complete next summer, includes a two-story, 51,000-square-foot expansion to Building A at the Beeghly campus that will add 47 exam rooms.
Work on the exterior of the building is slated to be complete by the end of this summer.
