HUBBARD
Beginning Monday, Hubbard-Thomas Road just south of Hubbard-Masury Road will be closed through late October for a $900,000 bridge replacement project. The detour will be Hubbard Masury Road to state Route 7 to state Route 304 to Elmwood Drive Extension.
Also beginning Monday, state Route 305 in Southington between U.S. Route 422 and state Route 534 will be closed through Wednesday, for a culvert replacement. The detour will be U.S. Route 422 to state Route 534.
Beginning Aug. 8, state Route 82 in Braceville between state Route 534 and Newton Falls Braceville Road will be closed through Aug. 10 for a culvert replacement. The detour will be state Route 534 to state Route 5.
Also, state Route 88 in Bristol and Mecca townships between state Routes 45 and 46 has various daily lane restrictions for resurfacing.
Sobriety checkpoint

One driver was arrested on a felony charge of operating a vehicle impaired and a second driver was cited for driving under suspension during a sobriety checkpoint conducted from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Friday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Belmont Avenue near Tod Lane. The driver is in Mahoning County jail pending a court appearance. A search of the driver’s vehicle, diverted because of an odor of alcoholic beverage, turned up a small amount of suspected cocaine. A total of 388 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, five of which were diverted for further investigation, said Lt. J. Sutton of the OSHP’s Canfield Post. Other county law enforcement officials assisted in the OVI checkpoint.
Bridge repair

Sampson Road at Academy Drive and Sampson Road at Murray Hill will close between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., beginning Monday. The closure, which is expected to last two weeks, is due to bridge repair.
Talk by Legal Aid

Community Legal Aid will talk about landlord responsibilities and tenant rights under the Fair Housing Act at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Howland branch of the public library, 9095 E. Market St. Among the topics will be new regulations regarding denial of housing based on criminal arrests and records. It is free.
