Participants sought for free training program


YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, 1325 Fifth Ave., will host informational sessions for its Employment Skills and Training Program from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The sessions will outline program coverage and expectations. Candidates interested in the six-week program, which begins Aug. 8, are required to attend an informational session.

The program will teach participants motivational training, interviewing techniques, computer and financial literacy, resume workshops and other topics. Participants will receive a free portfolio, flash drives, interview clothing and potential financial assistance regardless of the participant’s criminal or financial background.

All program graduates will have a year of follow-up appointments with an assigned employment development specialist.

Candidates must be a Mahoning County resident, at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or working towards their G.E.D., and income eligible at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty line.
