POLAND
Township trustees Friday approved a five-year road renewal levy to be placed on the November ballot.
The 2-mill levy was first approved in 1977 and generates $204,232 a year for road maintenance and repair. For the owner of a $100,000 home, it will cost them $35 to $40 per year.
In other business, trustees approved a series of water-rate increases over a five-year period. The agreement with Aqua Ohio will increase fees for a customer who uses 1,500 gallons per month from $23.72 to $24.72 beginning in 2017.
The rates will increase by about 4.2 percent in 2017 and again by 4.2 percent in 2018. The increases for 2019, 2020 and 2021 will be about 4.5 percent each year. The plan will help fund Aqua Ohio’s facility improvements. Aqua Ohio made similar negotiations with several nearby townships this summer that also approved the same plan.
Trustees also announced the closing of a portion of North Lima Road between Spitler Road and Western Reserve Road from Aug. 15 to Sept. 1 for replacement of a small bridge.
