The Buhl Community Recreation Center will honor Donna Winner and Karen Winner Sed as the recipients of the 2016 Henry and Catherine Evans Community Service Award. The award will be presented at the sixth annual awards dinner Sept. 28 at Tiffany Banquet Center, 601 Bedford Road SE. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30.

The award is presented to those who have contributed time and financial contributions to the community. Joe George, chairman of the Henry and Catherine Evans Community Service Award committee, says the Winner family has been instrumental in revitalizing the Sharon area by investing in business, structures, homes and people.

The awards dinner has raised nearly $250,000 for BCRC since 2011. Past recipients include Leo Winger, Joe George, Gary Mezaros and George “Jig” Warren, Tom and Lew Kachulis and Paul and Tina O’Brien.

All proceeds will support the BCRC’s Financial Assistance Program which provides memberships and programs to youth and families in need.
