Court order narrows Prince’s potential heirs

Court order narrows Prince’s potential heirs

MINNEAPOLIS

A Minnesota judge overseeing Prince’s estate narrowed down the wide pool of potential heirs for the late superstar’s fortune Friday, ruling out nearly 30 claimants while ordering genetic testing for six purported family members.

Prince died April 21 of a drug overdose. The process of determining his heirs and parceling out his estate has fallen to the courts because he had no known children and left no will.

A DNA test already has ruled out a Colorado prison inmate who claimed to be Prince’s son.

Barring any others who could come forward claiming ties, Eide’s order drastically limits who may benefit from Prince’s fortunes – an estimated $300 million or more – or gain control of his legacy.

Poof! ‘Ghostbusters’ tweet cheering Clinton deleted

A tweet from Sony Pictures’ “Ghostbusters” account that many interpreted as an endorsement of Hillary Clinton has disappeared as quickly as a phantom.

The studio tweeted “Boo-yah, we smashed your glass ceiling,” on Thursday after Clinton became the first woman to lead a major U.S. political party. The message also had the hashtag “ImWithHer,” a Clinton campaign motto.

By Friday, it had been deleted.

A spokeswoman for Sony told the Los Angeles Times that the tweet “was never intended to be a political endorsement.”

The all-female version of “Ghostbusters” stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as a ghost-fighting foursome.

It has become a lightning rod to some, in part for the gender of its paranormal pursuers.
