YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a woman arrested Wednesday afternoon on a burglary warrant told police, “I hope God murders you in your sleep” and that she was only being arrested because she is black.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Task Force Fugitive about 3:15 p.m. went to a home in the 2800 block of Clingan Avenue on the East Side looking for Shajuan Samaniego-Hall, 24, of Kendis Circle, who was wanted on a felony burglary warrant.

Marshals Greg Mullenex and Dan DeVille said in a report there were briefed earlier in the day on Samaniego-Hall’s history, which reports said included a combative arrest a few days before.

Reports said when officers arrived, they saw Samaniego-Hall at the end of a drive with another woman. She told them she was not going to jail and told the marshals to shoot her, reports said.

Reports said she was warned several times to put her hands behind her back, but she would not.

Mullenex grabbed her by an arm to try and handcuff her and she was warned she would be stunned if she did not stop resisting but she did not, according to the reports. She was then stunned and taken into custody.

Reports said she made her comments on the way to the Mahoning County jail, saying, “The only reason you are arresting me is because I am black, and you are white,” and she also said that white police officers like to shoot black people.

Reports said at the jail she told a corrections officer, “I hate white cops,” and she also gave the nurse a hard time. Besides the warrant, Samaniego-Hall also was charged with resisting arrest.

Court files show the burglary charge was filed Tuesday in an incident that occurred June 29.
