Local Republicans say Clintons can't be trusted

BOARDMAN

Local Republicans – some who are former Democrats – stood in front of the Southern Park Mall today to “remind Mahoning Valley voters why there is so much distrust of the Clintons, both Bill and Hillary,” according to the Mahoning County Republican chairman.

In 1992, Bill Clinton, fresh off his nomination as the Democratic presidential nominee, had a rally with 8,000 people at the mall in 1992 promising his support for Youngstown’s bid for a federal Defense Finance and Accounting Services [DFAS[ center if elected. He won, but the center – and 7,000 jobs – never came.

Like Bill Clinton, his wife, Hillary, who accepted the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday, is “ethically challenged,” Mahoning GOP Chairman Mark Munroe said.

“They both have a history of telling lies and half-truths and making promises they don’t keep,” he said.

About 25 people attended the event, urging voters to support Donald Trump for president.

Clinton and Tim Kaine, her vice presidential running mate, will be at Youngstown’s East High School on Saturday night. Republicans are organizing a protest near the school.
