Southern Boulevard at Route 224 reopens

BOARDMAN — A section of Southern Boulevard near U.S. Route 224 that was closed for several hours due to a waterline break is now open.

Sections of Southern Boulevard and 224 closed Wednesday after a pipe under Southern Boulevard broke, possibly due to a truck hitting a nearby fire hydrant.

The incident briefly shut off water to the main fire station at that intersection, as well as other buildings in the area.

A Youngstown water department crew was on scene for several hours repairing the line.
