Police may charge teen girl in father's shooting death

WARREN

Police say they may charge a girl, 14, as soon as today in the shooting death of her father at their house on Hunter Street Northwest early today.

The girl’s mother called 911, which brought police to 914 Hunter at about 3:20 a.m., where they found Jonathan R. Meadows, 41, dead of at least one gunshot wound.

Capt. Robert Massucci of the Warren Police Department said he is not able to discuss any further details of what led up to the shooting and said he doesn’t know whether there had been any previous incidents at that home.

He said he has not learned so far of the girl having been charged with any crimes. He said he would not release her name until she is charged.

Massucci said he does not recall any child that young having been charged in a death in the 25 years he has been with the Warren Police Department.

The girl is in custody at the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center, Massucci said.
