The holiday was enacted by Senate Bill 264.

During the holiday, these items are exempt from sales and use tax: clothing priced at $75 per item or less; school supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and school instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.

Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under the sales-tax holiday.

No auction winner

youngstown

The online auction of the former Cafaro Co. headquarters at 2445 Belmont Ave. ended Wednesday, but no winner has been announced because Cafaro and the buyer are in negotiations, a company spokesman said.

The building of about 44,000 square feet sits on 3.59 acres.

The southern half of the former Cafaro headquarters was built in 1965, and the northern half was built in 1980.

The sale price on the building was listed at $2.6 million.

Edward J. Lewis Inc. is the broker on the sale. In June, the Cafaro Co. entered into an auction agreement to sell the land, building and contents of its former Youngstown headquarters with Ten-X, an online real-estate transaction marketplace.
