Brookfield UMC sets Summer Fest

Brookfield United Methodist Church, 6951 Grove St., will sponsor its sixth annual Summer Fest Aug. 13 and 14 on the Village Green. Aug. 13 there will be food booths and displays open at 11 a.m. with a craft and vendor show from noon to 5 p.m. Brian Dilley of New England Antique Appraisers will offer appraisals from noon to 3 p.m. in the Historical Society tent.

The third annual Ellen Jessup Memorial Bike and Wagon Parade will be at 3 p.m. sponsored by Brookfield Optimist Club. Jessup, now deceased, was director of Brookfield UMC Preschool. Prizes will be awarded for decorations. A community parade will be at 5 p.m. and bed race at 6 p.m. The day also will include children’s crafts, music and bed race. A night of worship with Nelson Swartz and Ryan Moore will be at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 14 will start with a 10 a.m. worship service at the gazebo on the green. Food booths and displays will open at 11 a.m. with a pet parade at 11:30 and fire department water challenge at noon. A car cruise will be from noon to 4 p.m. The craft and vendor show continues along with music and the basket auction.

Donations of school supplies for Brookfield students will be collected.
