Allegiant pilots ratify new pact

VIENNA — Allegiant Air today announced that pilots represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, IBT, voted to ratify their first contract agreement with the company.

Allegiant and IBT have been negotiating in mediated sessions with the National Mediation Board since February 2014.

A one point, the pilots almost went on strike but a court injunction prevented the strike during a busy holiday weekend.

The contract goes into effect Monday for a five-year term.

Allegiant offers flights at the Vienna-based Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda and Myrtle Beach.
