Railroad association to host open house event

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association will host its annual open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jim Marter Yard, 1340 Poland Ave.

Visitors will be invited to tour two P&LE cabooses, steam engine, Pollock steel ladle car, 60-ton GE locomotive, a one-of-a-kind Plymoth EL yard switcher, mold-transport car and box car. Association members will be on hand to answer questions about the steel and railroad industries.

Snacks and drinks will be available. Cost is $1 per person; kids under 5 get in free.
