POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

July 21

Arrest: Austintown police handed 45-year-old Aaron G. Barnhart to Girard authorities. Barnhart, of Church Hill Road, Girard, was wanted on a warrant charging failure to comply with a court order.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Mosier Road resulted in the arrest of 22-year-old Johnathan White on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said the Steubenville man had admitted having suspected marijuana.

July 22

Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of East Prospect Street, where a kitchen window and a rear door had been opened. Stolen were an Xbox game console, Xbox games and various personal papers.

Theft: A woman noticed her purse missing while at an East Liberty Street business.

Menacing: An East Wilson Avenue man alleged another man threatened via text messages to beat him up, apparently after having been angered that he could not afford to rent one of the victim’s properties.

July 23

Assault: A West Howard Street woman alleged that during a fight, her aunt grabbed her from behind and pulled her hair after the accuser had stated her concern for a child at the residence. The victim had several scratches to her face and arms.

July 24

Aggravated menacing: A North State Street woman alleged a man with whom she had been in a relationship threatened to come to her home, shoot the accuser and take their baby.

Menacing: A North Avenue couple told police the woman’s former boyfriend sat in a truck at their apartment complex, then got out and yelled obscenities at them.

July 25

Criminal mischief: Several eggs were tossed at the front door and a bedroom window at an East Prospect Street residence.

Arrest: Police in Lowellville picked up 36-year-old Steven Willis of Struthers, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Menacing: A Squaw Creek Road woman said her former boyfriend committed several actions, evidently after having been angered about text messages he found on her cellphone, that caused the accuser to consider filing a protection order against him.

Counterfeit: A manager with Family Dollar, 910 N. State St., reported having received a $100 travelers check that a bank determined was counterfeit.

LIBERTY

July 20

Arrest: Authorities in Campbell picked up Percy Phillips, 24, of Redondo Road, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

July 21

Arrest: A vehicle check in the 1300 block of Church Hill Road led to the arrest of Delores R. Tucker, 67, of Rosser Avenue, Hubbard. She was wanted on a Youngstown warrant.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Shannon Road man said a Columbiana woman to whom he had loaned his 2002 Chevrolet has refused for several weeks to return it.

Drugs: Danielle M. Johnson, 36, of Emma Street, Girard, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and dangerous drugs, as well as obstructing official business, after having been pulled over in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue. Johnson, who police said provided a false name and date of birth, had an assortment of pills in a bottle with no label, used syringes and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, according to a report.

Theft: A man reportedly left a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave., after having stolen three packs of cigarettes.

Felonious assault: A Mineral Ridge man told authorities that while driving on East Liberty Street, a motorist behind him fired two shots, striking his vehicle, then passed the victim and sped south on Belmont Avenue. A bullet hole was found in his car’s lower right taillight area, though no bullet had been recovered, a report showed.

Menacing: A pharmacist with a Belmont Avenue big-box store told officers a 65-year-old Campbell man has come to the business on at least five occasions and made veiled threats.

Aggravated menacing: A charge was pending against a Girard man, 54, after a Shannon Road woman alleged he had come to her home with a gun and threatened to shoot his brother. The weapon turned out to be a BB gun, a report showed.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Logan Arms Drive woman reported someone had used a key to damage a portion of her car’s finish and removed two plastic lawn chairs from her yard.

July 22

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 4300 block of Belmont Avenue led to 27-year-old Deanna P. Bland’s arrest. Bland, of Millicent Avenue, Liberty, was wanted on two Youngstown warrants and was charged with driving under suspension.

Fraud: After receiving information that someone likely was attempting to use a fraudulent identification at Sprint, 4501 Belmont Ave., authorities charged 23-year-old Sixmary N. Marte of Bronx, N.Y., with one felony count each of forgery, identity theft and theft after alleging Marte admitted having used a phony ID. She also used fake forms of identification while buying three phones from Sprint’s Howland location, a report showed.

July 23

Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered her debit card had been used to make three unauthorized transactions at a Belmont Avenue store that totaled $397.

July 24

Aggravated menacing: An Austintown woman alleged that while in the township, her former boyfriend, of Boardman, had threatened to shoot her and her family.

Arrest: Authorities at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital arrested 29-year-old Alyssa L. Breneman upon learning the Toms River, N.J., woman was wanted on a township warrant.

Incident: A Green Acres Drive woman told police she used pepper spray against a 44-year-old man she said had twice tried to enter her residence without permission.

Criminal damaging: A Monticello Boulevard woman alleged her former boyfriend, upset about their break-up, broke a double-pane window to her home.

Domestic violence: Kristy L. Cuevas, 37, of Redgate Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after a nephew alleged Cuevas had choked and scratched him during a heated argument while the accuser visited a relative on Euclid Avenue. Police found the victim with a bloody nose and lip; in addition, he had bruising and what appeared to be ligature marks on his neck, a report said.

July 25

Arrest: While answering a disturbance call at a Belmont Avenue motel, police took into custody 45-year-old Robert G. Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., after finding out Jones was wanted on a Florida warrant accusing him of failing to register as a sex offender.

Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Overbrook Avenue via a side window. An air-conditioning unit was disturbed, but it appeared nothing had been stolen.

Harassment: An Oriel-Rodgers Road woman said her estranged husband had sent threatening correspondence, including a photograph of him posing next to four assault rifles.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 6100 block of Belmont Avenue. A $500 portable generator was missing.

Identity theft: A Youngstown man found out someone without permission used his debit card at a Belmont Avenue store and learned that his account had evidently been drained.

HUBBARD

July 20

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone reportedly tried to pry open a side door and break into the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3767, 710 W. Liberty St.

Criminal damaging: While responding to a possible domestic situation on Hager Street, officers arrested David G. Airgood of Hager, Hubbard, after a family member alleged Airgood, 20, had used a blunt object to dent and damage her dryer.

Arrest: After having been stopped in the 100 block of West Liberty Street, 37-year-old James G. Morrison III of Stewart Avenue, Hubbard, was taken into custody on a charge of violating a protection order.

Criminal mischief: Three Austintown juveniles, two 16 and one 17, reportedly recklessly drove and rode on top of two golf carts at Deer Creek Golf Course, 7691 E. Liberty St.

July 21

Identity fraud: A Center Street man found out someone in Miami apparently had tried to open a credit-card account in his name.

Theft: A 26-inch, $350 bicycle was taken from behind a North Main Street residence.

Arrest: Boardman police relinquished custody of Jason C. Adams, 25, of Westchester Drive, Austintown. He was wanted on a Hubbard city warrant.
