Man playing ’Pokemon Go’ robbed of cellphone, shot in Columbus park

COLUMBUS (AP) — Police say a man playing “Pokemon Go” on a cellphone was robbed of the phone and shot in a city park here.

Columbus police say 26-year-old Gregory Wheeler and a woman were playing the smartphone game Tuesday night when a 14-year-old boy on a bike asked to use their phone to call his mother.

The police report says the teenager fled with the phone and Wheeler was struck in the head by another person when he chased the teen. Authorities say Wheeler was then shot three times. Wheeler’s condition wasn’t immediately available today.

Police say a 14-year-old suspect was arrested on robbery and assault charges. They were searching for the other suspect, also believed to be about 14.

The Associated Press doesn’t typically name juveniles charged with crimes.
