Sanders asks DNC to nominate Hillary Clinton 'by acclamation'

PHILADELPHIA

Sen. Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton's one-time primary opponent, asked the Democratic National Committee to suspend its rules and nominate Clinton 'by acclimation.'

His motion came just moments ago, after South Dakota sealed her nomination during the roll call of states, pushing her delegate total to the needed 2,383.

Her nomination marks a historic moment for the country, and especially for women, as Clinton officially becomes the first female nominee for president by any major party.
