DNC CONVENTION | Letson thrilled with history of roll-call vote
PHILADELPHIA — Tom Letson, delegate to the Democratic National Convention, knew that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders would stand up after the roll call vote to ask for acclamation to make Hillary Clinton the party’s presidential nominee.
But it “still gave me chills,” said Letson of Warren, a former state representative.
“It was thrilling because you knew history was being made when Sen. Sanders stood up,” said Letson, a Clinton delegate.
Sanders’ request was overwhelmingly approved by those inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
“It was exhilarating,” said Dave Betras, chairman of the Mahoning County Democratic Party.
