SOUTH HOLLAND, ILL.
Finishing a suspended game from Saturday, Poland held on to its 4-3 lead despite getting only five hits. Lexi Diaz had two hits, including an RBI. Brooke Bobbey, Caroline Aey and Lauren Sienkiewicz each recorded a hit. Bobbey was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks. Poland completed the pool-play sweep in game two when its bats got going early and often, finishing with 11 hits. Most of Poland’s runs came in the first two innings. Camryn Lattanzio hit a three-run double and Aey smacked a two-run double. Jackie Grisdale was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Sienkiewicz was 2-3 with and RBI. Bobbey won her second start of the day, allowing three runs on 10 hits and three walks while going the distance. Poland continues pool play today at 5 p.m. against Michigan. Both Poland and Michigan are undefeated in pool play.
