Goodwill encourages making donations

Spring and summer are the busiest seasons for people moving into new homes, redecorating or cleaning to make room. Youngstown Area Goodwill is encouraging residents that donations are better than throwing things away.

Furniture in good condition, housewares, picture frames, dinnerware, cooking utensils are all are welcomed. In addition to environmental benefits, donations help improve the community’s economy by funding Goodwill’s employment programs. Items sold at the stores make up more than 60 percent of the Goodwill budget so it can employ 260 residents.

Goodwill locations are in Austintown, Boardman, Calcutta, Liberty, Salem, Warren, Hermitage and New Castle, Pa.
