CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio

A northeast Ohio police officer remains hospitalized after authorities say a driver of a vehicle purposely struck his cruiser during a chase.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department says the crash happened early Saturday morning. Officers were pursing the vehicle after its driver allegedly rammed into three patrol vehicles parked in the police department’s parking lot, causing significant damage.

During the chase, police say the vehicle crossed into a lane and purposely struck the officer’s cruiser. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, and police said they remained there on Sunday.

The incident is under investigation. No charges have been filed.

The department identified the officer on its Facebook page Sunday as Ted Davis, an 11-year veteran of the force.

Police say he has serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
