SENIOR LIVING

Grace Woods Senior Living LLC, a local assisted-living center at 730 Youngstown Warren Road in Niles and 1166 Benton Road in Salem, recently announced that its Comprehensive Health Care Coordinator, Sara Meade, has graduated with her associate’s degree as a registered nurse. Meade’s duties at Grace Woods Senior Living include managing and coordinating medical care for all assisted-living residents. She was a practicing licensed practical nurse at Grace Woods while going to school to further her career.

BANKING

Citizens Financial Group Inc. recently announced the appointment of Mary Ellen Baker as head of business services effective Aug. 8. Baker will report to chairman and CEO Bruce Van Saun and serve on Citizens’ executive committee. Baker succeeds David Bowerman, who is returning to the U.K. after serving 34 years with The Royal Bank of Scotland and Citizens. Baker, a banking veteran with more than three decades of experience, joins Citizens from PNC Financial Services Group Inc. where she most recently was the executive vice president of enterprise services.

METAL

Quaker City Castings received the “President’s Company Award” from the Ohio Cast Metals Association in July, identifying it as one of the best foundries in the state of Ohio. In addition to pouring steel, iron and nickel-alloy castings using the no-bake molding process, QCC also operates a full-service machine shop and produces high performance cylinder sleeves and connecting rods under its “PowerBore” brand.

DESIGN

Bob Durbin recently joined Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc.’s Youngstown office as a senior civil project manager. In this role, he will assist the firm’s municipal clients with their infrastructure design needs, but he also will be responsible for business development, quality control and operations tasks. Durbin previously served as the chief deputy engineer for Columbiana County.
