Loggins was born July 5, 1926, in Kilmichael, Miss., to John Henry and Alma Knox Loggins. He is one of six children. Raised by his grandparents, they taught him to work hard and put God first in his life. He began working in sawmills at 13. In 1952 he moved to Youngstown and lived with the Goodwine family. He worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 28 years and retired in 1977.

He was assistant pastor of Penn Avenue Church of God in Christ for 17 years under the leadership of Elder J.W. Rogers, was superintendent of Youngstown District Churches of God in Christ for 27 years and now serves under the leadership of Superintendent Elder Ross Johnson of the Greater Mahoning Valley District of the Churches of God in Christ. He also served on the executive board of the Ohio North Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. He has been used to help produce many bishops, pastors, elders, mothers, missionaries and deacons.

He hosted a radio broadcast ministry on WBBW Youngstown for 19 years, “Look Up and Live By Faith.”

On April 1 he received the Flame of the Spirit Award at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown at the Revival One Network Pastors and Leadership Luncheon.

Rev. Loggins and his wife, Naomi, were the founders of Phillips Chapel Church of God in Christ in Hubbard. The church was dedicated in August 1970 after two renovations, and each year a week of Back-Home Revival Services remember where the ministry began and how souls have been touched under his leadership. He also was cofounder of St. Paul Church of God in Christ in Kilmichael. Rev. Loggins is still preaching, praying and praising God, expounding the word of wisdom of God to all who will hear.

Loggins married Naomi Phillips in 1954. She died in 1992. On Oct. 9, 1996, he married Rosia Marie Patterson of Racine, Wis. Their children are Rev. James Patterson of Sioux Falls, Iowa; Janet Patterson, Rev. Robert Earl Patterson and Cedrick Patterson, all of Racine; and Maurice Patterson of Boardman.
