POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

July 14

Domestic violence: James P. Feltner, 25, of North Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after his sister, of Mackey Street, alleged an intoxicated Feltner had choked her, punched the accuser multiple times in the head and slammed her to the ground several times when she refused to give him money to buy beer.

Employee theft: Dustin L. James, 34, of East Park Avenue, Hubbard, was charged after the owner of Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save Express Gas, 368 N. Main St., alleged James had on two occasions stolen a total of 13, $20 Ohio Lottery scratch-off tickets. James also was seen in surveillance footage committing the crime, a police report said.

July 15

Arrest: Police in the 100 block of Drummond Avenue took into custody 35-year-old Matthew C. Mounier of Main Street, Mineral Ridge. He was wanted on an Ohio State Highway Patrol warrant.

Harassment: A mail carrier at a West Liberty Street business reported a Hubbard man, 31, had made derogatory comments toward him, evidently as part of ongoing problems between them.

July 16

Harassment: A Hillview Drive woman told police her 12-year-old daughter had received inappropriate, sexually-suggestive messages via Instagram.

July 18

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A worker for a Myron Street business alleged an acquaintance had taken and failed to return his 2004 Buick at the agreed-upon time.

July 20

Theft: Amato P. Zaccone Jr., 56, of Jacobs Road, Youngstown, was charged after a woman alleged Zaccone had taken her debit card without her knowledge or permission and she discovered money missing from her account.

GIRARD

July 18

Criminal mischief: A Tod Avenue man said he found dried mud spread throughout his front porch and a large dent in his front door.

Summons: While responding to a report of an unwanted person, police issued a summons to 39-year-old Jennifer M. Wilson of West Howard Street, Girard, after an officer said he saw a medium-sized pig in her home, which is in violation of a city ordinance pertaining to farm animals.

Arrest: Authorities picked up 45-year-old Roy D. Nichols as he walked near High and West Main streets. Nichols, of North State Street, Girard, was wanted on a felony-theft charge from Girard as well as on Mahoning County warrants.

Arrest: Police responded to a domestic-dispute call at a South Randolph Street residence, where they took into custody Ryan A. Lowe, 27, of South Randolph, Girard, who was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant.

LIBERTY

July 15

Arrest: Officers charged Lamont L. McDowell, 21, of Colonial Drive, Liberty, with obstructing official business after saying McDowell, who also was wanted on an Austintown warrant charging aggravated robbery, refused several times during a traffic stop to identify himself for their investigation. The driver reportedly fled on foot and had not been apprehended at the time of the report.

July 16

Assaults: Two employees with Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, alleged a 17-year-old patient had assaulted them. One victim said she was struck about eight times in the back of the head as she tried to de-escalate the situation.

Weapon: After pulling him over on state Route 193, authorities charged 36-year-old Raymond L. Rue of Cardinal Drive, Liberty, with one felony count each of carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle after saying a loaded .40-caliber gun was found and that Rue’s concealed-carry permit had expired. He also was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and had a 0.223 blood-alcohol count, which is nearly three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue told police someone tossed an object, breaking his vehicle’s front windshield and doing an estimated $500 in damage.

July 17

Recovered property: Housekeeping personnel at an East Liberty Street motel reported having found a lock box containing an undisclosed sum of money that belonged to a Monroe, Mich., woman.

July 18

Arrest: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive resulted in a charge of obstructing official business against 18-year-old Aquiria D. Bowers of Westminster Drive, Austintown, after police alleged Bowers, who was the driver, had tried to jump in the backseat to avoid receiving a ticket for driving under suspension.

Harassment: A Monticello Boulevard woman said she’s received repeated unwanted calls at her residence and place of employment that contained direct and implied threats.

Citation: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over and cited 26-year-old Shakia N. Torres on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after saying Torres, of Green Acres Drive, Liberty, had a 0.145 blood-alcohol count.

Assault: A patient at a township group home alleged a caregiver had punched him in the stomach, then threatened the accuser.

Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to take custody of 37-year-old Jamie R. Seaman of Russell Avenue, Youngstown. She was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

July 19

Harassment: A Colonial Drive woman said she’s received a series of such calls and text messages.

July 20

Harassment: A Leslie Lane man reported a woman sent him text messages that were threatening and harassing in nature.
