Vienna

A ladies firearms class has openings at the Fish and Game Club of Vienna, 1508 Youngstown Kingsville Road.

The class runs on Tuesdays through Sept. 6 from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. It is a comprehensive class on all firearms and qualifies participants for a CCW license.

Concealed carry

Hubbard

The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick-Campbell Road, and United Vets CCW are offering two concealed handgun license training classes from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and next Saturday.

The class meets the requirements for applying for an Ohio CHL (CCW) license. Cost is $85 per person or $160 per couple and includes use of target pistols, ammunition, eye and ear protection, and light snacks and lunch. Catfish tournament

Hubbard

The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick-Campbell Road, is hosting catfish tournaments from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. today and Aug. 6 and 20.

Entry fee is $10. First place will receive a payout of 30 percent, and second place will receive 20 percent. All catfish caught will be measured, and the winner will be the participant with the most total inches of catfish.

There also will be a large- catfish pool with a 50 percent payout to the participant who catches the largest single catfish. Entry fee is $4.

Participants must bring their own bait and lanterns. Food and drinks will be sold.

Water quality

Salem

Joshua Emanuelson and Jason Reynolds of Columbiana County Soil and Water Conservation District will be at Salem’s Centennial Park pavilion #1 (off of Pershing Street) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to teach how storm-water runoff carries pollutants through a watershed to a pond, lake, river, bay or ocean and the best management practices to prevent this type of pollution from occurring.

Areas of focus will be on residential, storm water and storm drains, forestry, transportation, recreation, agriculture, construction and industry.

Included in the program will be a demonstration teaching how to build a 55-gallon rain barrel to conserve rain water for use around your home.

Youth program

North Jackson

The Youngstown Rifle & Pistol Club will have a youth program at 6 p.m. Friday.

The program, which teaches youths gun safety and how to shoot, is free and open to the public.Firearms and ammunition will be supplied at no cost.

Cancer benefit shoot

Berlin Center

Lake Milton Fish & Game Club, 4374 Bedell Road, will have a 3-D archery shoot at 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 31. All profits will benefit American Cancer Society.

Cost is $10 per shoot or $25 for the weekend.

2016 Youth Day
