STRUTHERS
Unlike its earlier game on Friday when the baseball team scored 13 runs during a five-inning shortened affair, Baird Brothers needed a five-run sixth inning for a 6-2, come-from-behind victory over the Michigan Bulls to remain undefeated in the NABF 18-U World Series at Cene Park.
Brendan Burke’s sacrifice fly broke a 1-1 deadlock leading to the big inning while Josh Anderson pitched three innings in relief, allowing just one hit for the win.
“My manager [Don Pletcher] just told me to go up there, sit back on the ball and drive it,” Burke said. “I told him not to worry. I was waiting on a fastball and was able to drive it to get in the run.”
Anderson also had two hits for Baird Brothers.
“My mindset was just to throw strikes and get batters out,” Anderson added. “I worked the zone.”
Dom Bucko also had two hits for Baird Brothers.
