ASSOCIATIONS
Guilford Lake Civic Association will have its annual covered dish picnic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the State Park Pavilion on Teegarden Road. Hot dogs, buns, beverages and paper plates will be provided. Participants can take a covered dish, but it is not necessary.
ALLIANCES
Ohio Cultural Alliance will have its next joint meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at St. Michael Church Hall, 300 N., Broad St., Canfield. Dinner will be followed by the Rev. C. Edward Weisheimer discussing “From a Fractured Church to Ecumenical Cooperation.” Cultural enrichment will be provided by Penn-Ohio Singers. Attendees are asked to take personal hygiene items and toiletries for the Rescue Mission, this month’s community project. Reservations are due Wednesday. Memberships run from March to December and cost $25 per person. The cost for each meeting is $15 for paid members and $25 for nonmembers. Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its Aug. 8 luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren. Reservations are required. Marilou Johnson, a former elementary school teacher from Lock Haven, Pa., will speak about finding security and peace in this stressful and unpredictable world. The vocalist will be Bonnie Baughman from Barberton. The program will be presented by Friends of the Mahoning River, an organization focused on improving water quality, ecology and the recreational activities the river provides. Stonecroft Ministries is a nondenominational organization that reaches out to women around the world. Luncheons take place the second Monday of each month for the cost of $13.
