LIBERTY

Dall E. Hodges, 58, of Coalinga, Calif., was charged with drunken driving after his tractor-trailer crashed on Interstate 80 near state Route 11 at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Hodges was eastbound on I-80 in the construction zone when his tractor-trailer drifted off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail and a bridge before overturning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported. Hodges was not injured.

He tested with a blood-alcohol level of 0.177, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 for individuals driving noncommercial vehicles and more than four times the legal limit for driving a commercial vehicle, which is 0.04. Officers booked Hodges into the Trumbull County Jail.

Hodges faces two counts of driving under the influence, a charge of driving under the influence while operating a commercial vehicle and a charge of failure to control vehicle.

A judge set Hodges’ bond at $7,500 after his arraignment Thursday in Girard Municipal Court. His case is set for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash closed the right lane of traffic for about 90 minutes. The tractor-trailer was hauling produce and had disabling damage.
