Police: Day care worker faked drug test
ROCK HILL, S.C.
Police in South Carolina say they are investigating a day care employee accused of asking an 8-year-old boy to give a urine sample so her adult son could use it to pass a drug test.
The Rock Hill Police report said the boy told his mother that he was awakened from a nap last week and told to urinate in a cup.
Investigators say the mother called the worker at New Beginnings Childcare, who apologized several times and told her that her son had just gotten out of jail and couldn’t find a job.
Police spokesman Mark Bollinger says no charges have been filed, but investigators are reviewing a state law that makes it illegal to defraud a drug test.
No one answered the phone Wednesday at New Beginnings Childcare.

Funds sue Puerto Rico, accuse gov’t of diverting funds
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico
Hedge funds representing a group of Puerto Rico bondholders have sued the U.S. territory, saying it violated the terms of a rescue package recently approved by Congress.
The federal lawsuit filed Wednesday claims the Puerto Rico government recently approved measures to divert hundreds of millions of dollars amid a dire economic crisis. The hedge funds contend Puerto Rico is barred from taking certain actions before the creation of a federal control board that will oversee the island government’s finances.
It is the latest in a series of lawsuits filed against Puerto Rico as the territory seeks to restructure $68 billion in public debt that the governor has said is unpayable.
Puerto Rico Chief of Staff Grace Santana said creditors who sue the government will not receive special treatment.
