PNC earnings

PNC recently reported second-quarter 2016 net income of $989 million compared with $943 million reported in the first quarter of 2016 and $1.044 billion of net income in the second quarter of 2015.

Net interest income declined 1 percent due to a decrease in purchase accounting accretion.

Loans grew $1.6 billion, or 1 percent with a $1.9 billion increase in commercial-lending partly offset by a decrease in consumer loans.

The results reflected strong fee income, well-managed expenses and loan growth.

GM dividend

DETROIT

General Motors Co. on Wednesday declared a third-quarter 2016 dividend of 38 cents per share on the company’s common stock. The third-quarter dividend is payable Sept. 23 to all common stockholders of record as of Sept. 9.
