Commercial Metal Forming going through bankruptcy sale
YOUNGSTOWN — A bankruptcy sale could mean Commercial Metal Forming employees will lose their jobs.
Commercial’s parent company, Constellation Enterprises, is up for sale in bankruptcy court, and the purchaser could choose to not keep all employees.
The layoff potential made it a requirement for Commercial to recently file a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. In the WARN notice, the company alerts the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services of the company’s closing and termination of employees, but the hope is the purchaser will keep all employees.
“This is a part of the process of coming out of bankruptcy,” said Bob Messaros, president of Commercial. “The real story is that it is great news for Commercial because it will get us out of bankruptcy.”
The asset auction for Constellation’s three entities will be Aug. 9.
Commercial has two locations with 166 employees in total. In Youngstown, Commercial employs 75.
