GOP CONVENTION | DeWine says get behind Trump

CLEVELAND

There’s been some criticism of Gov. John Kasich’s decision not to speak at the Republican National Convention.

Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine, a Kasich delegate, said he hopes the party can come out of the convention unified behind Trump.

“Clearly Donald Trump is the nominee,” he said. “And what we need to look at is the alternative, and the alternative is Hillary Clinton appointing federal judges, appointing the next Supreme Court, and it’s something that I think would not be good for this country. A Supreme Court that is extremely liberal for maybe a generation or two generations is what we’ll have if Hillary Clinton is president of the United States.”

Ohio GOP Chairman Matt Borges was asked by reporters about criticism of Kasich by Trump. He responded, “If he keeps criticizing John Kasich in Ohio, he’s going to lose.”
