The school board approved the contract between Poland schools and the Ohio School Board Association for survey services.

The agreement first came to the board in April when an OSBA representative presented the board with the survey idea. The board will have a phone conference Friday with OSBA to discuss what information the board wants to gain from the feedback through the survey.

“We’ve had town-hall meetings, we’ve had support group meetings, focus meetings, those sorts of things,” schools Superintendent David Janofa. “But the board’s desire is to try to allow everyone to get their input.”

By next month, those who live in the school district can fill out the survey when it is available online. It cost the district $2,000.

In other business, the board approved the agreement to implement the Success by Six Program in the Poland Schools, which began Monday. The program helps educate children entering kindergarten with no prior educationally structured experience like preschool for six weeks before entering kindergarten.

It’s also been implemented around the Mahoning Valley area school districts. The program will also cost the school district no money, as it is funded by a $4,500 grant by the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
