Austintown police looking for scam artists

AUSTINTOWN — Authorities are looking for two men, one of whom reportedly stole $1,650 from Citizens Financial Bank by using a quick-changing scam.

About 5 p.m. Monday, two township police officers responded to a report of a theft at Citizens Financial Bank on Mahoning Avenue that occurred last Friday.

The officers met with a female employee who said a man came up to her teller window and requested she exchange $3,000 in 20-dollar bills with 50-dollar bills, according to a police report.

The woman said the man then refused the 50-dollar bills and asked for Canadian bills. When she said she didn't have Canadian money and gave him

back the 20-dollar bills, the man only returned $1,350 of the 50-dollar bills.

The woman said the man left in a vehicle with another man.
