A few hundred people came to Sunday’s fifth annual Summer Festival and Bike Run/Show at Austintown Township Park to raise money for this 8-year-old animal facility on Youngstown’s West Side. Some facts about the nonprofit shelter and adoption center:

West Side Cats typically takes in disabled and injured cats and kittens, including those that are missing limbs, are blind or suffer from cerebellar hypoplasia, a birth defect that interferes with balance.

The shelter places 300 to 900 cats and kittens for adoption each year.

The facility relies 100 percent on volunteers and donations.

Hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
