GOP CONVENTION | Mother of American killed in Benghazi takes on Clinton

CLEVELAND (AP) — The mother of one of the four Americans killed in the siege on an U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya, is taking on Hillary Clinton.

Pat Smith told Republican delegates at their convention: "If Hillary Clinton can't give us the truth, why should we give her the presidency?"

Smith's son, Sean, was a State Department foreign service officer Sean Smith who died in the 2012 attack.

Pat Smith says she blames Clinton – who was secretary of state – "personally" for her son's death.

The convention's program tonight had a strong focus on Benghazi – an issue that Republicans have pressed for years against Clinton, claiming her negligence contributed to the Americans' death.

Delegates also saw a video and presentation about Benghazi.
