GOP CONVENTION | Melania Trump says her husband 'never gives up'


CLEVELAND (AP) — Before Donald Trump announced his wife, he told the Republican National Convention delegates, "We are going to win so big."

Melania Trump said her husband respected all his opponents in the GOP Republican primary election. She said he loves this country very much.

She spoke of her Slovenia roots and how her parents raised her and her siblings and instilled in them a love of family. She said her parents also instilled in them a work ethic, lessons she and her husband have are attempting to pass on to their young son.

The former model spoke of her rise in the fashion industry, the day she came to America, and the day she became a U.S. citizen. "The greatest privilege on planet Earth is to be an American citizen," she said.

"My husband will make a great and lasting difference. He has a never-give-up attitude. He does not give up. If you want someone to fight for you and your country, I assure you, he's the guy," Melania Trump said of her husband.

"He's tough when he needs to be. But he's also kind and generous. Donald is intensely loyal to family, friends and this country," she said, adding he's a great man and father.

She said the U.S, needs new leadership, and "Donald is the only one who can deliver it. He wants prosperity for all Americans." She said her husband would fight to retain the rights of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Latinos, African-Americans, the poor and the middle class.
