Bond set at $50,000 for man accused of assaulting city police officer

Bond was set at $50,000 today for a man accused of assaulting a city police officer Friday.

Arnold Shiflett, 28, of Wesley Avenue, was arraigned in municipal court before Magistrate Anthony Sertick on charges of felonious assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

Shiflett is accused of fighting with an officer about 8:05 a.m. Friday at Connecticut and North Dunlap Avenue after the officer pulled him over for an improper turn.

The bond was set at $40,000 for the charges from Friday. Shiflett also had two warrants for failure to appear and bond was set at $5,000 each on those.
