MANUFACTURING

Fireline Inc., a manufacturer of refractory components, with facilities on Andrews Avenue in Youngstown and Foxwood Court in Boardman, has received the highest rating for quality from Advantage International Registrar in meeting all standards of ISO 9001:2008 for the second year in a row. The perfect score is a rarity, but an annual audit and acceptable rating is required for both U.S. companies and European. A surveillance team from the Advantage International Registrar based in Raleigh, N.C., comes to Youngstown yearly to observe every phase of the operations, goes over the records and interviews employees. Not only did Fireline meet or exceed all standards for quality control, but no corrective actions were requested in 2015 or 2016. AIR cited three strengths; very robust processes, excellent teamwork from the top down, ownership by employees of their processes and pride in their quality.

HEALTH CARE

It was recently announced that ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital of Warren is the first hospital in Ohio to achieve The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. Accreditations and certifications – granted by organizations such as the Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care — indicate a hospital has met national standards in a certain discipline, and act as a testament to the caliber of services.
