Enlightening program on fireflies set

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will host a program about fireflies from 8 to 10 p.m. July 31.

Guests will learn about the different species of fireflies in the area, their habitat and flashing patterns, their bioluminescence and more. Jeff Calta, a 25-year firefly enthusiast, will answer questions from guests. Dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a flashlight as a night walk will be included. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
