NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Dr. James Perkins, Westminster College professor of English emeritus, is the author of “Bird by Bird Watching” published in May by Dawn Valley Press.

Perkins’ latest literary endeavor is a collaboration with his longtime friend and colleague, the late Nelson Oestreich, whose woodcut bird prints illustrate this volume of Perkins’ poems.

The book’s introduction was written by local ornithologists Dr. Kerri Cornell Duerr, Westminster assistant professor of biology, and her husband, Dr. Adam Duerr.

Perkins earned an undergraduate degree from Centre College, master’s degree from Miami University and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee. In addition to this and six previous volumes on which he collaborated with Oestreich, Perkins has published more than 100 short stories and poems.
